We were amazed… Tracie and I weren’t sure what to expect as we were driving down to Hostchon, GA to photograph this small, DIY wedding in the parents backyard. But as we arrived and had a look around, we couldn’t believe the abundance of rustic, DIY wedding decor. As you can see in the photos, the bride, with the help of family and friends, is incredibly imaginative and super crafty. Using things she already had on hand like turning rusting metal roofing into signs, re-purposing a birdhouse into a card catcher, and using vines and limbs to create the wedding arbor.
The ceremony took place on a gorgeous October day underneath a truly, gigantic oak tree whose limbs spidered out for incredible lengths.
One of my favorite couple portraits was on the tree swing that hung down from lofty heights on the backside of the enormous oak. The groom pushed his smiling bride out into the foreground of the photo. Not to mention that I’ve always loved tree swings anyway.
